FBI accuses FOX reporter of aiding espionage

The scandal around the US government spying on journalists appears to be spreading. In the latest twist it’s been revealed that personal phone records and e-mails of a Fox News reporter were seized as part of a leak investigation. This latest incident comes hot on the heels of an Associated Press wiretapping scandal, when members of staff had their calls and e-mails monitored. RT’s Washington correspondent Gayane Chichakyan looks at the implications, that these cases might have for journalism in America. And RT news editor, Ivor Crotty, explains why there’s a fear the US government’s war on whistleblowers might go much further.

Radio host Adam Kokesh was arrested Saturday in Philadelphia during a Smoke Down Prohibition rally.

As witnessed in footage of the event filmed by fellow activists, Kokesh appears to have been arrested for the victimless crime of exercising his First Amendment right to free speech.

The talk radio host recently garnered national attention when he announced a July 4th armed march on Washington D.C. in defiance of the capitol’s firearms laws. As of yet, it’s unclear whether his connection to the upcoming event had anything to do with his arrest.

On the Sunday broadcast of the Alex Jones Show, Alex spoke to one of Kokesh’s crew members, Lucas, who stated the feds haven’t yet disclosed where Adam is being detained.

The progressive-leaning investigative journalism group ProPublica says the Internal Revenue Service (IRS) office that targeted and harassed conservative tax-exempt groups during the 2012 election cycle gave the progressive group nine confidential applications of conservative groups whose tax-exempt status was pending.

 The commendable admission lends further evidence to the lengths the IRS went during an election cycle to silence tea party and limited government voices.

 ProPublica says the documents the IRS gave them were “not supposed to be made public”:

 The same IRS office that deliberately targeted conservative groups applying for tax-exempt status in the run-up to the 2012 election released nine pending confidential applications of conservative groups to ProPublica late last year… In response to a request for the applications for 67 different nonprofits last November, the Cincinnati office of the IRS sent ProPublica applications or documentation for 31 groups. Nine of those applications had not yet been approved—meaning they were not supposed to be made public. (We made six of those public, after redacting their financial information, deeming that they were newsworthy.)

The group says that “no unapproved applications from liberal groups were sent to ProPublica.”

According to Media Research Center Vice President for Business and Culture Dan Gainor, ProPublica’s financial backers include top progressive donors:

ProPublica, which recently won its second Pulitzer Prize, initially was given millions of dollars from the Sandler Foundation to “strengthen the progressive infrastructure”–“progressive” being the code word for very liberal. In 2010, it also received a two-year contribution of $125,000 each year from the Open Society Foundations. In case you wonder where that money comes from, the OSF website is http://www.soros.org. It is a network of more than 30 international foundations, mostly funded by Soros, who has contributed more than $8 billion to those efforts.

On Friday, the House Ways and Means Committee is scheduled to hold a formal hearing on the IRS conservative targeting scandal. IRS Commissioner Steve Miller and Treasury Inspector General for Tax Administration J. Russell George are slated to testify.

A video depicting police from the City of Cotati, California forcing their way into someone’s home and then tazing the person filming the incident is causing an uproar on YouTube and LiveLeak.

Displaying utter disregard for the US Constitution, one of four police officers announces they will enter the home due to a domestic violence call, as the persons inside the house argue, “There is no domestic violence, just an argument with yelling,” and relay sections of the Fourth Amendment that dictate probable cause and a warrant be obtained prior to police entering someone’s home.

Around twenty seconds into the video, one of the officers is seen holstering either a firearm or a Taser.

The officer in charge next asks how many children are in the house, likely assessing the amount of psychological trauma that will soon be dealt out, before asking the persons inside the home why they’re not coming out, to which the person filming answers, “Because we don’t live in a police state, sir. Martial law has not been established in this country.”

Ignoring the person’s response, the officer tells the residents to get down on the floor with their hands behind their backs “because we’re gonna kick the door.”

What comes next is a chilling example of what could happen to anyone in any home in America if police are allowed unrestrained free rein.

Although difficult to pinpoint exactly why police found it necessary to invade the person’s home and privacy, it can be assumed that the documented home invasion, constitutional violation and destruction of property would likely have never been brought to light if the person had not filmed the event.

In just four hours, the Live Leak video has been played over 15,655 times.

Drug and Gun Violence

President Obama, during a recent visit to Mexico, pointed the finger at American’s use of illegal drugs and guns for Mexico’s plague of violence. “Much of the root cause for violence that has been happening here in Mexico, for which so many Mexicans have suffered, is the demand for illegal drugs in the United States,” Obama said. He continued, “Most of the guns used to commit violence here in Mexico come from the United States.”

The fact is, this story goes much deeper. It is true that there is a demand for drugs in the united states, but we should ask these vital questions: Who has facilitated this situation? Who is supporting the drug lords? Looking into this story, we can reasonably conclude that the American people are scapegoats for the crimes of money laundering banks and the ATF.

As reported by Bloomberg in 2010, mega banks including Wells Fargo (Bailed out with $36 billion in taxpayer money in 2008) and Bank of America (Which began giving credit cards to illegal aliens with no social security numbers in 2007) were caught laundering money to Mexican drug cartels. In total over $300 billion was laundered in operations that were blatantly ignored by Wachovia, now part of Wells Fargo. Among other illegal activities, the money bought planes used to deliver narcotics. After paying a measly $160 million in fines – and “promising not to do it again” – Wachovia is officially off the hook for its crimes.

Drug lords would have a hard time exerting their authority without armaments. Fortunately for them, the Bureau of Alcohol Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) kindly supplied weapons in operation Fast and Furious. The operation allowed guns to be sold to suspected Mexican drug dealers to be “tracked.” Not surprisingly, Fast and Furious weapons have been found at crime scenes in Mexico. Can this be chalked up to a “botched operation,” or is there a conscious intent to use it for wider objectives?

CBS news uncovered documents in 2011 that showed the ATF discussing Fast and Furious as a means to justify tighter gun control measures. Now, President Obama is pointing to this violence and proclaiming the same objectives. In his version of reality the American people – in their wanton lust for guns and drugs – are to blame.

It is vitally important that the official narrative on this issue be deconstructed. The establishment will ride on its white horse proclaiming ignorance of any wrongdoing. In fact, it will use the violence it generates to elevate itself over the people even further.

Inhofe: “I believe it’s intentional”

A US Senator has stated on record that he believes the Department of Homeland Security is intentionally attempting to exhaust civilian supplies of ammunition by buying huge bulk amounts, as documented by Infowars for some months.

Appearing on “Aaron Klein Investigative Radio” on WABC in New York, Sen. Jim Inhofe, R-Okla. said that the Obama administration was attempting to “dry up the market” and deprive gun owners of bullets.

“We have in this country the Second Amendment that preserves the right to keep and bear arms, and the president doesn’t believe in that.” Inhofe said.

“President Obama has been doing everything he could to stop the private ownership of guns in America,” the Senator added. “Yet he’s been voted down in a big way by a large majority, and so my feeling is that he’s doing this to buy up [ammunition] so honest, law-abiding citizens here in the United States, like my son, can’t even buy ammunition because government is purchasing so much.”

“We had someone testify the other day the DHS has the ‘right’ – this is a bureaucrat who said this – they have the ‘right’ to buy as much as they want, and they’re planning to buy 750 million rounds,” Inhofe said, referring to a House committee hearing last week, during which the DHS’s chief procurement officer denied that the agency was stockpiling ammunition, while simultaneously admitting that the huge open orders had been submitted.

Inhofe pointed out that the amount of ammunition on order “is more than three times the amount our soldiers are using for training to defend our nation.”

As we recently reported, the DHS announced plans to purchase another 360,000 rounds of hollow point ammunition to add to the roughly 2 billion bullets already bought over the past year.

In addition, last week, The DHS released a market survey asking companies if they are able to provide 2 million rounds of ammunition within a short time period, increasing concerns that the federal agency is continuing its arms build up even further.

“I believe it’s intentional,” Inhofe said, describing the situation as “just another effort to restrict gun activity and ownership.”

“This has never happened in this country before. We’ve never had government trying to take that much control at the expense of law-abiding citizens. And we’re not going to let it happen.” Inhofe added.

Ammo shortages across the nation are now commonplace, with gun stores forced to resort to bullet rationing, and self production in an attempt to satisfy as many customers as they can, while some police departments are having to barter between themselves to meet demand.

Despite the official denials backed up by unquestioning media reports that the DHS is buying an abnormal amount of bullets, the Government Accountability Office announced last week that an investigation of the purchases is “just getting underway.”

Two weeks ago, Inhofe introduced legislation into the Senate that would limit such stockpiling of bullets by federal agencies.

The bill, known as the Ammunition Management for More Obtainability Act, or AMMO act for short, would stop short of limiting the Department of Defense on ammo purchases, but would prevent the DHS and U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) from purchasing or storing more ammunition than those agencies retained on average between 2001 and 2009.

Speaking about the legislation, Inhofe noted:

“It’s designed to have the Government Accounting Office inventory not the Defense Department but all other departments that use weaponry,” Inhofe said, “as to what they’re doing in terms of the amount of ammunition they have bought to dry up the market for honest, law-abiding citizens.”
